Also that year she placed fifth in the National Cross Country Championships. In 1976 she made the Olympic Trials in the 1500 meters. Charlotte was the first women to run and win in the prestigious Mt. Washington Road Race. In her running career she won numerous New England and Regional track and cross country titles and was consistently ranked nationally in the mile and 1500 meters. Charlotte graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1976 with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Women's Studies. After college she ran competitively for Nike and later became their promotions director for women's running.
Charlotte has coached track for over thirty years at the high school, college, and club level. She currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her two sons Hank and Sam, and her husband Kirk Richardson.
